An OEM solar hybrid trailer lets a distributor sell a complete power system under its own name instead of engineering one from scratch. Distributors and importers in Latin America, French-speaking Africa, the Gulf and the US can put their own brand on AB-iPower’s VTS8P, VTS12P and VTS20P ESS solar hybrid trailers. This guide puts the three models side by side, explains how to choose between them, sets out what can be customized, and lists what the factory needs from you to turn a product idea into a firm OEM quotation.
Why private label works for these trailers
All three units leave the factory as complete systems: solar array, LiFePO4 battery, inverter and diesel generator already mounted and wired on one trailer. A distributor does not have to design an electrical system and then source the parts separately. You pick a standard model, define your brand and your market requirements, and resell it as your own product line to rental fleets, EPCs and installers in your territory.
The overall process is described on the OEM/ODM manufacturing page. If you would rather sell under the AB-iPower name, see the distributor page. For what buying direct from the factory means in practice, read buying hybrid ESS factory-direct.
The VTS8P ESS is the single-phase entry point in the VTS hybrid trailer range.
For an importer entering a new market, the question is rarely whether a unit can be branded. The real work is matching one of the three models to the loads your customers actually run, and telling the factory precisely what your market requires before it quotes.

Choosing the VTS8P ESS for single-phase sites
The VTS8P ESS fits sites that run single-phase 230 V loads: a telecom shelter, a construction site office, a small events setup or a CCTV station. Its Victron Quattro inverter delivers 15,000 VA / 12,000 W continuous at 25 °C, with a 25,000 W peak. As an example, the 30.7 kWh battery can carry a steady 3 kW load for roughly 10 hours before the 18 kVA Yanmar generator is needed. Real runtime depends on the load and on the sun available on site.
It is also the only one of the three with a published 20 ft loading figure, two units per 20 ft container, which matters if your first OEM order is a trial batch.
Choosing between the VTS12P and VTS20P ESS for three-phase sites
Both three-phase units use the same 30 kVA inverter bank (three Victron Quattro, each 10,000 VA / 8,000 W continuous at 25 °C), the same 51.2 kWh battery and the same 35 kVA Hatz generator. The decision is not about power. It is about how much of the daily energy comes from the sun. The VTS20P ESS carries 20 × 450 W foldable panels (9 kW) against 12 × 450 W (5.4 kW) on the VTS12P ESS, so the generator runs less on sunny sites.
The VTS20P ESS carries a larger foldable solar array than the VTS12P ESS for the same inverter and battery size.
As an example, the 51.2 kWh battery on either unit can supply a steady 5 kW load for roughly 10 hours before the generator is needed. If your end customers run three-phase construction tools or camp loads on sites with strong, consistent sun, the VTS20P ESS is the natural choice. If the sites are often shaded or overcast, the extra panels earn less and the VTS12P ESS gives the same inverter, battery and generator in a shorter unit (4,015 mm against 4,500 mm). Both load four units per 40 ft container.
For a project that later needs more solar input than either onboard array provides, the VTS20P mobile solar PV trailer can add capacity on site. Compatibility with a specific hybrid unit is confirmed per project.
What can be customized for a private-label run
Customization falls into two groups. Branding changes leave the standard specification untouched. Specification changes alter the build and are confirmed model by model in the quotation.
Branding
- Livery and nameplates: your logo, colours, decals and nameplates on the unit and on the packaging.
- Documentation: manuals, datasheets and labels in your brand and in your market’s language.
Specification
- Voltage and frequency: the standard builds are 230 V, 50 Hz. The US and much of Latin America run on 60 Hz grids, so state your voltage, frequency and phase arrangement at the start.
- Battery and power: battery capacity, PCS power and inverter brand can be discussed where your market needs something other than the standard model.
- Sockets and connections: the VTS8P ESS is published with one 63 A and two 32 A single-phase output sockets, the VTS12P and VTS20P ESS with one 63 A and one 32 A three-phase output socket. Tell the factory which plug and socket standard your customers use.
- Trailer standard: Australian, North American or European trailer standards, with hitch and axle options.
- Control and monitoring: controller, 4G monitoring, remote start and fleet telematics integration.

A specification change is not a branding change. A different frequency, battery size or generator affects the build, the test and the lead time, so it is confirmed in the quotation for your project and never assumed from the published datasheet. The same goes for certifications: check which ones are listed on the product sheet of the model you choose, and raise any additional approval your market requires in the brief.
How an OEM project runs
- Brief: you share your target market, quantities and the specification you need.
- Sample or prototype: the factory configures and builds a sample unit for your approval.
- Validation: inspection in person, by a third party or by live video call.
- Series production: branded units are produced, tested and packed for export.
- Long-term supply: spare parts and consistent specifications over the product life.
Preparing an accurate quote request
The fastest way to a usable OEM quotation is to send a complete picture of the deployment in the first message. Include:
- Country and grid standard: destination country, output voltage, frequency, single-phase or three-phase, and plug and socket type.
- Load profile: average continuous load, peak load, the largest motor to start, and hours of use per day on a typical customer site.
- Desired autonomy: how many hours the site should run on battery and solar before the generator starts.
- Model and quantity: the model you have in mind, first batch size and expected yearly volume.
- Branding assets: logo files, colour codes, nameplate text and the language for labels and manuals.
- Site conditions: ambient temperature range, altitude, dust or humidity. The batteries on all three models are rated for 0 to 65 °C operation.
- Compliance requirements: any approval or document your customs or your customers require.
- Logistics: Incoterm (FOB or CIF), destination port and target delivery window.
With these eight points the factory can confirm the model, the changes, the container loading and the lead time in one reply instead of several.
Where these trailers get deployed
VTS8P ESS units suit telecom site operators, small rental fleets and events contractors running single-phase loads. VTS12P and VTS20P ESS units suit construction contractors, mining and exploration camps and larger rental operators running three-phase tools and site infrastructure. Our fuel savings calculator turns your customer’s load and local diesel price into a side-by-side comparison you can drop straight into a proposal. Treat the output as a planning estimate, not a guaranteed number, since real savings depend on sun hours and actual duty cycle. Sector context for your sales material is on the rental fleets, construction, mining and telecom pages.
Next step
If you import energy equipment into Latin America, French-speaking Africa, the Gulf or the US and want to resell the VTS8P, VTS12P or VTS20P ESS under your own brand, request a quote and write “OEM” in your message. Send your country and grid standard, your customers’ load profile, the autonomy you want on battery, your quantities and your branding assets, and the factory will come back with a configured offer.
Frequently asked questions
Can the trailer, nameplate and documentation carry my own brand name?
Yes. Under the OEM program your logo, colours, decals and nameplates go on the unit and its packaging, and manuals, datasheets and labels can be issued in your brand and language. List the branding items you need in your quotation request so they are written into the offer.
Do the VTS8P, VTS12P and VTS20P ESS run on 60 Hz or 120 V for the US and Latin America?
The published standard output is 50 Hz, single-phase 230 V on the VTS8P ESS and three-phase 230 V on the VTS12P and VTS20P ESS. Voltage and frequency are among the items the OEM/ODM program can configure, but a 60 Hz or 120/240 V build is a specification change. It has to be requested in your brief and confirmed in writing in the quotation, not assumed from the standard datasheet.
Can I mix VTS8P, VTS12P and VTS20P ESS units in the same container?
The published loading figures are per model, 2 units per 20 ft or 4 per 40 ft for the VTS8P ESS and 4 per 40 ft for the VTS12P and VTS20P ESS. A mixed load is worked out by the factory once it knows your model mix and destination port.
What is the minimum order quantity for a private-label run?
It depends on the product and the level of customization. Branding only is usually possible from small quantities, while a modified specification needs a volume that is agreed per project. Send your expected volumes with your request.
Can I inspect a unit before the series is produced?
Yes. A sample unit can be produced and inspected before series production, and inspection can be done in person at the factory, by a third party or by live video call.
